So, I cannot say if your problem with it is, in fact, widespread or not. I haven't had to use Malwarebytes for many months - why? Because I am careful while online. AV software only recognizes things that have been around and analyzed - there are new scam every day. There is nothing you can do in advance except get rid of it once you have it. It may redirect your browser, install pop ups telling you that you have 8,153 viruses, or whatever. There is nothing you can do to be able to protect yourself or avoid it. And do not believe the 1000's of scam pop ups or emails trying to part you with some/all of your money. Do not click on anything unless you know what it is. Avoid sites that allow you to download content which costs money elsewhere. The best way to protect yourself is to avoid websites that allow adware or malware. What could one use to protect himself from malicious websites, malicious softwares and so on?
